Our first WANKER OF THE WEEK is a spokesman for Suffolk police. He obviously has some difficulty with the principle of cause and effect, at least where speed limits and speed cameras are concerned. Quoted in the local press recently, the spokesman said "… over 48,000 people were prosecuted last year for excess speed" (he means in Suffolk). "The camera sites are widely publicised so there's absolutely no need for this number of people to be caught. People have not got a leg to stand on. Everyone knows the speed limit". That's a bit like saying "So you got shot by a drug-crazed bank robber? You don't have a leg to stand on. Everyone knew he had a gun". Or "Sorry your five-year-old child was eaten at school, but you don't have a leg to stand on - everyone could see there was a tiger rampaging round the classroom." Wrong, and wrong, and wrong, Mr.Plod. The fact is the gun shouldn't have been there, or the tiger. And if 48,000 motorists have been unable to comply with a speed limit, perhaps you should be considering whether it's the speed limit that's inappropriate in that place? If you'd just been a little less self-righteous, and had contented yourself with saying "we've got these speed limits and they pay me to enforce them so that's what I've done", like a normal person, you'd have missed out on this coveted award. But that wasn't your style, was it? So congratulations, Mr.Plod. For assuming that you are like the all-knowing God and that all your works are infallible and unquestionable, you ARE our "Wanker of the Week"! We'll let you remain anonymous - we know you'll find it hard to cope with the shame. either on this site or on the World Wide Web. This site created and maintained by PlainSite |
